Compassionate Intentions:
A New Year's Retreat for Women
"Empowering women through Connection,
Embodiment and Art" [email protected]
Facilitated and Led by Janet Wepner
Saturday, January 14th, 2023
10:30am - 5:00pm
10:00am optional tea/coffee/mingle
Location: Unitarian Universalist Church of Catawba Valley
Soul Emergence.
Harness the Power to Create Yourself Anew.
Join me, and a group of women who are Seekers just like you.
In this day and time we need circles. And it seems essential to have circles of women in our lives. Let us come together and open to the wisdom within, and the wisdom all around us. Let’s come together with the intention to find and shine our Light within the Darkness of Winter, and the different types of Uncertainty we collectively face.
Let us find our own unique individual emergence together (not alone) and let our Light shine forth.
- Engage in quiet reflection, as well as Meaningful exchanges with other women.
- Deepen your embodiment with gentle movement, stretching and a walking meditation.
- Explore your creative expression through writing, drawing, clay or other art forms of your choice.
- Discover your compassionate intentions for the new year.
In 2020, we had the opportunity to see many facets of life with new eyes, "new vision". In 2021, life felt tentative, but ready to attempt more movement. In 2022, life has been moving, even though we are facing turmoil and growing uncertainty as a nation and as a world every day.
Individually we feel the impact of these changes and challenges. For 2023, what's needed to remain rooted and resilient?
A mentor of mine said recently, "What if the meaning of life is not to find who we are? What if instead it is about creating who we want to become?"
In this fashion, we can call in the ways that our Soul Emerges in spite of, and because of, the disarray and unknown around us. We reach deep and emerge with more of our golden essence, creating ourselves anew.
Included will be Group Council, Contemplative Movement and Meditation practices, as well as time for Individual Reflection in the realm of creative arts: writing, drawing or using clay as a free form of expression - finding our golden essence in the unconscious and then creating and forging ourselves anew.
A grounded container and well-spring of deep Compassion will be held by your facilitator, Janet Wepner. Diversity is welcome. May we all come and drink from this well together. This is my true joy in life. What happens in groups cannot be accomplished alone. There is a group wisdom that unfolds that is magical every time.
So worry not weary one. Your burden is not yours to carry alone.
Let us join together in our joy, laughter and tears.
And may our hearts be filled and lifted.
Experience deep inner reflection, community, meaningful exchanges with other women, embodiment, mindfulness and creative arts:
writing, drawing or using clay as a free form of expression - finding our golden essence in the unconscious and then creating and forging ourselves anew.

“For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it.”
-- Amanda Gorman
"To display the lantern of the soul in shadowy times like these, to be fierce and to show mercy toward others, both, are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. Struggling souls catch lights from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it."

"Something one of the women said about fear as an opportunity for growth I have thought about daily and incorporate as a lesson. I have also realized how my confidence ebbs and flows based on my daily experiences. I think this is common for many women. I think of myself as full or empty spiritually and emotionally, and when I am in need of renewal. I also notice if I feel centered. I loved the yoga move where we scooped up the energy from the earth. At least that is how I remember it. I do this now at times when I feel I need it."
~W. J. - compassionate intentions 2020 "These circles have offered vision and clarity, connection and community for the weaving together of the nuggets of wisdom received and shared into the fabric and essence of my being, offering support, encouragement, and love along the journey of life."
~J. R. - compassionate intentions 2016 "I am making stillness and meditation a practice each morning. It was so beneficial to me and I don’t want to lose the grounding and acceptance I felt when we were together! I am so thankful that I said yes to this workshop!"

"Thank you so much for a wonderful workshop. I felt supported and listened to and learned so much from other's journeys. You are a supportive and compassionate group leader...thank you for all you did in putting the workshop together.
I have come to appreciate the importance of having support in my daily life. Also, I am cultivating more compassion for myself. Thank you so much, Janet.” ~A. M. - compassionate intentions 2019 “I left the women's retreat, Compassionate Intentions, with such a feeling of spaciousness. The balance of meditation, contemplation, sharing, and creative expression opened up layers of depth within me. I sensed the same process occurring with others as we created together an ever-widening circle of love with tears and laughter flowing through it. By the end of the day, we felt like a family.”
~L. W. - compassionate intentions 2019 "I was reminded that I am enough. I have been experiencing more self love and compassion. ❤️ My vision for my Transformative Touch practice expanded, and I was stirred to continue that journey."
~L. E. -compassionate intentions 2020 |
“I liked just being open to the questions you posed and not planning ahead how I would answer them - just listening to others and then spontaneously sharing my own musings. I felt very open to this group of strangers and not worried at all about what they might think of me. This is a new experience that I hope to take into my interactions with others.
I've begun journaling again. I've been wanting to get back to reading poetry and now I'm doing it. And writing poetry too!” ~Anonymous - compassionate intentions 2022 "The retreat provided clarity and focus. There are so many things floating around in my life. And what I know for sure is that focusing on too many things at the same time is sure to disappoint. This provided me the clarity on what is important now for me, and the tools to take the next step."
